INTRODUCTION

The Department of General Surgery provides consultation, examination, and treatment for a wide range of surgical conditions, including those related to the digestive and urinary systems. The department also integrates physical therapy and rehabilitation into its treatment plans and serves as a clinical training center for students from Phan Chu Trinh University.

All medical examinations and treatments strictly comply with the professional regulations issued by Tam Tri Medical Group and the Ministry of Health.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The department specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of various conditions in the following areas:

1. Digestive System

Stomach surgeries:
Gastric cancer surgery, partial or total gastrectomy, gastrectomy with lymph node dissection, gastrojejunostomy, gastrostomy for feeding; repair of perforated gastric or small bowel ulcers; emergency small bowel resection; surgery for pyloric stenosis.
Colon surgeries:
Segmental colectomy for colorectal cancer, total colectomy, colon polypectomy, rectal prolapse surgery.
Liver, pancreas, and spleen surgeries:
Hepatectomy, laparoscopic liver cyst removal, partial pancreatectomy, pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure); splenectomy for pathological or traumatic causes.
Gallbladder and biliary tract surgeries:
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, cholecystitis, or gallbladder tumors; common bile duct exploration and stone removal; excision of choledochal cysts; hepaticojejunostomy; ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) for stone removal and biliary stent placement in cases of biliary stricture; PTBD (Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage).

Notably, our department has successfully performed a combination of ERCP for common bile duct stone removal and laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a single surgical session.
Hernia repair:
Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with mesh placement, open inguinal hernia repair, femoral hernia repair, and surgical correction of various abdominal wall hernias (incisional and spontaneous).
Anorectal surgery:
Hemorrhoidectomy using the Longo technique; surgical treatment for chronic anal fissures, rectal prolapse, anal fistulas, perianal abscesses; surgeries for rectal and anal cancers including open or laparoscopic Miles procedure; treatment for anal strictures and anal fissures.

Inguinal hernia repair in children (open or laparoscopic)
Pneumatic reduction for intussusception
Surgery for persistent omphalomesenteric duct
