Introduction

The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit at Tam Tri Saigon General Hospital is operated by a team of professors and doctors who specialize in gastrointestinal endoscopy.

The endoscopy system is equipped with modern technology and is continuously upgraded and renewed to best support the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in providing accurate diagnoses and early detection of diseases. This enables timely treatment solutions, helping patients shorten recovery time, reduce costs, and achieve the most effective treatment outcomes.

Available Endoscopy Services:

I. Diagnostic Endoscopy
a. Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)

- Diagnostic endoscopy: screening and early detection of cancer, testing for Helicobacter pylori infection

- Painless endoscopy (with sedation)

b. Rectal and Colonoscopy

- Screening and early detection of colorectal cancer

- Painless endoscopy (with sedation)

c. Diagnostic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

Diagnosis of gallstones, biliary strictures, bile duct tumors, etc.

II. Therapeutic Endoscopy

a. Therapeutic Upper GI Endoscopy

  • Treatment of bleeding in the stomach, duodenum, or esophagus due to ulcers or esophageal varices:

+ Hemostatic injection

+ Hemostatic clipping

+ Esophageal variceal band ligation

  • Foreign body removal from the stomach
  • Polypectomy in the stomach and duodenum
  • Metal stent placement for esophageal or gastric cancer
  • Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) for feeding
  • Esophageal dilation for achalasia
  • Dilation for esophageal strictures

b. Therapeutic Colonoscopy

  • Polypectomy in the colon and rectum
  • Hemostasis for bleeding ulcers or post-polypectomy bleeding
  • Foreign body removal from the rectum and colon
  • Anal dilation for anal strictures after hemorrhoid surgery

c. Therapeutic ERCP (Biliary and Pancreatic Endoscopy)

  • Removal of bile duct stones, pancreatic duct stones, or parasites from the biliary tract
  • Stent placement for malignant biliary strictures
  • Drainage tube placement for bile duct obstruction due to cancer
  • Sphincterotomy for bile duct obstruction caused by ampullary stenosis or duodenal diverticulum
